Leadership

The Office of the Chairman.

The governance of the Alliance is vested in its Board of Directors, presided over by the Chairman, with day-to-day management delegated to a Chief Executive Officer. The inaugural Chief Executive seat is presently open, and the Alliance is receiving inquiries from qualified candidates.

The Chairman

Joseph Lorkovic

Chairman · Acting Chief Executive Officer

Joseph Lorkovic is the founder and Chairman of the Alliance Of Real Estate Professionals. He is concurrently the founder and Chairman of Real Smart Ledger LLC, the independent technology company that provides the Alliance's infrastructure under the service agreement described in Article IX of the Governance Charter. He serves as acting Chief Executive Officer of AOREP pending the seating of an inaugural CEO.

From 2019 through 2024, Mr. Lorkovic served as Database Administrator at a major California state real estate trade association, a position he held for five years before his resignation. During his tenure there, he developed — on his own time and outside the scope of his employment — a general-purpose AI agentic orchestration system and associated server infrastructure, which were not directed to any real estate application. Following his resignation, and upon the full separation of his responsibilities to his former employer, Mr. Lorkovic commenced work in the real estate sector through subsequent ventures, the most recent of which are Real Smart Ledger and the Alliance.

His work since separation has been directed to the proposition that the real estate industry benefits from infrastructure operated by a chartered trade body, governed by principles that cannot be voted away, and supported by technology owned by a separate entity under contract. The Alliance is the institutional expression of that proposition. Real Smart Ledger is its technical counterpart. Neither was in existence prior to his departure from prior employment, and each has been constructed since that separation as independent endeavors.

A fuller biographical note is forthcoming and will be published in due course.

The Chief Executive Officer

The inaugural CEO seat.

The Alliance is in the process of seating its inaugural Chief Executive Officer. The Chairman serves in that capacity on an acting basis while the search proceeds.

The role is the Alliance's senior operating position. The CEO holds responsibility for day-to-day management, member and node relations, the administration of Alliance programs and publications, and the execution of decisions of the Board. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and, in the ordinary course, works closely with the Chairman on matters of long-term direction.

The Alliance is particularly interested in candidates whose experience reflects senior leadership in one or more of the following:

  • Executive leadership of a real estate trade organization or professional association at state, regional, or national scale
  • Senior operational leadership within a listing service, multiple listing organization, or comparable real estate data infrastructure
  • Policy and governance work at the intersection of real estate practice and trade regulation
  • Legal practice at senior level in real estate transactional or regulatory matters, combined with institutional experience
  • Executive leadership of a membership organization or chartered body with a governance model of comparable complexity

Candidates meeting these profiles, or whose experience is adjacent and meaningful to the Alliance's work, are invited to address the Office of the Chairman. Preliminary inquiries are treated with appropriate discretion. No application form, submission portal, or search firm engagement currently applies; correspondence is received directly.

Qualified candidates with senior experience in real estate industry governance, listing infrastructure, or trade organization leadership may contact the Office of the Chairman directly to begin a confidential conversation.

The Board of Directors

Structure and election.

The Board of Directors is the Alliance's senior governing body. Under the Bylaws, it consists of a Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer ex officio, and a complement of elected directors drawn from the membership and from positions of standing within the profession and the public it serves.

Directors are elected by the membership. Terms are staggered to preserve institutional continuity. Officer positions other than the Chairman are appointed by the Board from among its members. The Bylaws set forth the manner and cadence of elections, the conduct of meetings, the responsibilities of officers, and the procedures governing the Board's ordinary and extraordinary business.

Initial seats on the Board are being filled by appointment from among qualified founders and advisors during the Alliance's founding period, as is customary for newly chartered institutions. The first membership election will be conducted in accordance with the schedule established in the Bylaws, and successor directors will be elected under the full procedure thereafter.

A note on founding appointments

Candidates for appointment to the founding Board are identified through direct inquiry by the Chairman and the CEO. Expressions of interest from industry figures whose experience and standing would support the Alliance's work are welcome, and may be addressed to the Office of the Chairman. The composition of the founding Board will be published upon completion of appointments.

Disclosure

The relationship with Real Smart Ledger LLC.

The Chairman of the Alliance is also the founder and Chairman of Real Smart Ledger LLC, the independent technology company that provides the Alliance's technical infrastructure under the service agreement described in Article IX of the Governance Charter. This arrangement is disclosed as a matter of record, and its boundaries are established in the charter itself.

The Alliance and Real Smart Ledger are separately chartered, separately capitalized, and separately governed. The service agreement between them is an arms-length contract whose principal terms are available to members and prospective node operators. The Chairman does not participate in Alliance decisions concerning the administration or renegotiation of the RSL agreement except as specifically provided for in the Bylaws, and the Board retains independent authority over the Alliance's side of that relationship.

The separation is intentional and structural. A trade organization that operates its own technology stack becomes, over time, a technology company with a trade organization attached. The Alliance has chosen the reverse: a trade organization supported by technology, rather than produced by it. The Chairman's concurrent role reflects the founding period and will be reviewed as the Alliance matures.
